The Southland Agriculture students took a field trip to the local Pioneer dealer Ron Gilgenbach this past week near Taopi. On the field trip students from 8th grade, 9thgrade and seniors listened to Ron talk about hybrids , their traits and plants deficiencies. Students also learned about how today the use of Drones can be used to identify crop issues and that weather stations and computer technology can be used to monitor soil moisture, nitrogen use and availability. Students spent time also learning about the structure of Pioneer and all its services that it provides to its customers. Students also spent time with Ron discussing individual traits of soybeans and corn that producers must consider when choosing a variety.
