Play & Learn (3 year old) Preschool The Southland School District offers a preschool opportunity for children that are 3 years old. There are two different options for this class. There is a class that meets once a week on Thursday mornings from 8:00-11:00 a.m. The other class meets twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12:00-3:00 p.m. The class focuses on encouraging sociability, sharing and developing independence. There are two requirements for this class: your child must have turned three before starting class and they also must be potty trained. These are put in place to make sure as much learning can take place in the classroom as possible! Southland School Readiness Preschool (4-5 year old) Are you looking for a preschool experience that will help your child get ready for Kindergarten? Southland School Readiness is a preschool that helps children that turns 4 by September 1st to develop the skills and behaviors necessary to be successful in future learning. There is a wide range of activities including fine motor skills, handwriting, letter recognition, socialization, stories, gym activities, songs and pre-academic skills. Our classes meet three times a week and run throughout the school year. Classes begin in September and continue to June. Classes are held Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 8:00-11:00 a.m. or 12:00-3:00 p.m. Classes meet at the Early Childhood Center, unless stated otherwise. Special Events and Field Trips In addition to preschool classes, area families with preschoolers are invited to participate in special events and field trips throughout the year.
