KBHello! My name is Mrs. Kelly Brahn and I teach middle school science here at Southland.  I teach 6th grade general science, 7th grade life science, 8th grade Earth science, and STEM classes.

About Me:
My husband and I live in Osage, IA with our two kids.  After growing up & going to school in the Twin Cities, I attended The College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN and majored in communications and minored in sports medicine.  After graduating from college, I worked in the Twin Cities in marketing for five years before going back to school for education. I graduated with my Master of Arts in Instruction with teaching licensure from St. Mary’s University in Winona, MN in 2012. I worked as a science teacher in the LeRoy-Ostrander School District for seven years before coming to Southland in 2019.
In my spare time, I enjoy watching and playing sports, traveling, trying new restaurants, going for walks, and spending time with my family. In the fall, I also work as a volleyball official in Iowa. I’m excited to be teaching middle school science and to be a part of all the great things happening in the Southland School District.
