Mayo Clinic Health System-Albert Lea and Austin Award Health Care Scholarships The MCHS scholarship is given annually in the amount of $1000 to 10 individuals in the Austin service area. The Naeve Auxiliary Scholarship is given annually in the amount of $1,000 to 3 individuals in the Austin service area. A scholarship committee will review applications and consider factors such as commitment, academic ability, overall character and attitude of applicants. Nexus Ag Youth Scholarship At Nexus, we think it’s vital to invest in the future. And there is no better way to do that than through of the young people within the communities we serve. We hope that our scholarships will ease the cost of covering college expenses and allow students to focus on what really matters, doing well in their programs of study. If you are a graduating high school senior and are planning to attend a two – or four – year college, we encourage you to apply for the Nexus Ag Youth Scholarship worth $1,000. Five of these scholarships will be given away every year. The following are the guidelines for students who wish to apply for this scholarship. Student Eligibility
Deadline for application entry is March 15, 2024. The FFA Chapter Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to active Southland chapter members. Selection will be based on academic accomplishments, financial need and participation in school community activities. Click here for more information and application. Application deadline is March 28, 2024 Maureen J. Schmit and Gary W. Stroup Scholarships This $2000 scholarship is awarded to two eligible applicants per year. Eligible applicants are high school seniors graduating from Southland High School of School District 500 in Adams, MN with a minimum GPA of 2.75 and who plans to attend a four year U.S. college or university or a two year U.S. college or trade school. Application Deadline – March 1, 2024. For more information and application click here Lineworker Scholarship Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to two applicants pursuing a post-secondary education in an electric lineworker program. To be eligible the applicant should be enrolling in a lineworker program or prove they are on a waiting list for the next open enrollment period. Preference will be given to FMEC members and residents of Freeborn and Mower County. Click here to find more information and the application. The scholarship application is due by May 1, 2024. Don Franz Scholarship Profinium, Inc., as Trustee of the Don Franz Broadcast Journalism Scholarship Trust, is seeking applicants for scholarships to be presented to graduating seniors. Don Franz was the voice of KATE Radio in Albert Lea. He began his career in broadcasting at age 15. Later in his career he was part owner and favorite announcer for KQUQ in Austin. Don enjoyed helping young people build and operate ham radios. Scholarship awards in the amount of $2,000 to $5,000 will be made to seniors graduating from a High School in Freeborn or Mower Counties. The selection shall be based on a combination of grades and financial needs as well as the interest of the student to study in an area related to broadcast journalism. The student must be enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution. This award has the potential to carry over to the award-winning students second year of college. Depending on the student’s grade point average (minimum of 2.8) and enrollment in post-secondary education (must be full time) at the final distribution of the first award, Profinium, Inc. will offer all eligible award winners the option to apply for a second award to help towards their second year of college. Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award Program This award program is to encourage young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing the candidate’s commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. Zonta clubs usually provide awards for club recipients who later may be selected for a district/region award of US$1,500.Ten international recipients are selected from the district/region recipients to receive additional awards of US$5,000 each. Those eligible are women, aged 16-19 on 1st April each year, living in a Zonta district/region, or who are citizens of a Zonta country, who demonstrate evidence of the following, are eligible to apply. ❑ Active commitment to volunteerism. ❑ Experience in local government, student government, or workplace leadership (paid or unpaid). ❑ Volunteer leadership achievements. ❑ Knowledge of Zonta International and its programs. ❑ Support for Zonta International’s mission of empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. Olson Scholarship is for students entering fields related to mental health services, financial planning, real estate, banking, social work, and any other profession needed by those who go through family law transitions.
